When I think of Valentine’s Day, I always think of love, a glass of wine, and some great dark chocolate!
After having your romantic Valentine’s dinner this year, go back home and pour a last glass of wine and open your favorite chocolate box.
If you like classic chocolate you could pair it with a Shiraz, as the layers of ripe berries and plums will stand out (Shiraz, 2005 Graham Beck – South Africa.)
If you prefer dark chocolate, you might want to contrast its traditional bittersweet flavor with a Riesling; as its honeysuckle and ripe pear tones pair well in a very natural way. (Riesling, 2009 Lucashof – Germany.)
If you are more into extra dark chocolate, a Zinfandel with aromas of blackberries, toasted oak and fruit flavors would pair perfectly. (Zinfandel, 2008 Ancient Peaks- Paso Robles, California.)
Pairing your favorite chocolate with wine is a very personal sensory experience, and it’s an ideal combination elevating the pleasure of each. The art of pairing is as intense as the art of loving, passionate and always worth the experience.
