There is a new ad in the fashion industry that reads: “If you speak fashion, you speak Italian”. I found it fantastic as I think that the same happens with us. “If you speak women, you speak wine”. We all love wine as much as we love having a manicure or buying great stilettos at DSW!
This weekend I visited my local wine store, “Tower”, where Ray, their wine consultant recommended a new organic wine that had just arrived at the store. This is the easiest way for women to start learning about wine, visiting the same store, where you could usually go and get your questions answered. Trust them, they are there to help and guide you. Next thing you know, you are an expert too!
So it was Friday night and I went out for dinner to Top Flr, a very cute and fun restaurant in Midtown, Atlanta, where the owner and all the waiters are absolutely adorable and the Tuna Tartar is out of this world! I always like to try a new wine and this time I had a red wine, Bodegas Sur de los Andes, Bonarda (a red Piedmont grape that is planted in Argentina) that was fantastic. Not too strong, not too light, perfect for women.
On Saturday night we went out to a friend’s house and as usual we had a great time trying different wine. We had a red sparkling Syrah, which I did not like but the men did like it and a Crios Syrah Bonarda from Argentina. This red wine was light and berry-like and I really enjoyed it.
So, stand tall, dress fancy and save some extra time for yourself this week and search the web for your local wine store. I’m sure that as soon as they see you, they will be eager to answer all your questions. These guys know a lot and we certainly need them!
Tip of the week : wine age best, stored horizontally at a cool temperature.
Do you have a comment or suggestions about wine? We love your feedback!

Hi! This is Katerina and this is my first post. Let's start by saying that I'm originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I love wine! Yes, I do love wine and though Argentina is famous for its good wine. I’m not a wine specialist but I’m learning about wine every day.
A couple of months ago I was talking to my girlfriends and we all found out that we do not know much about wine. Clearly, women are usually left behind when they need to give their opinions about wine. As far as my experience, we always leave the wine topic to boyfriends, uncles, husbands or Grandpa, to give us a good advice about a great wine. So I thought that it would be cool to have a “virtual place” for women to talk freely about wine.
So…I created this blog thinking about all the GIRLS (women) who love GRAPES (wine). Maybe by sharing our experiences, stories and fears about picking a good bottle of wine, we could all learn more and the next time that we have to buy a bottle of wine we will not be that intimidated. Who knows?...
In any case, I think that it all started here, at Lombard Street, San Francisco. It was my first time on the West coast and I loved it!!! Since day 1 I was in love with San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma. Yes you could be in love with 3 cities. Love is love...
On that first trip to SF, I had the chance to visit many wineries in Napa Valley and Sonoma and I totally fell in love with the people, land and weather. In fact, it was the first time that I had a glass of sauvignon blanc in my life! Can you believe that? ...Well I could write hours about these fantastic places but I will do so over time.
Today, I just wanted to share with you girls, that you are not alone out there. We are millions of women who would love to know more about wine but we are too shy to ask. So for this matter, let me tell you that we are very fortunate, as we will have in our blog a wine specialist, a student from the Atlanta Wine School that will be sharing his knowledge about wine. He will be joining us every month and he is starting his first post before St. Valentine’s Day so that we can surprise our Valentine’s with a good choice of wine!!!
Each Monday I will be posting new stories on wine and I’m eager to hear all about your own stories about wine, love and maybe crackers too…
